A PS/2 mouse works fine in Linux when you use the

I left XF86Config set the way you set it up

You need to change the Pointer Protocol to match your mouse.

What do you suggest I do to the setup you provided in XF86Config?

I already have a symlink from /dev/mouse to /dev/psaux (or I did before I gave up and switched to a serial mouse). I tried no_accel and no_stretch. I tried two other kernels. The Accupoint is said to be PS/2 compatible. It works with DSL boot CD or DOS, just not as a psaux in BL 3.40. (I have not even tried 2.1 yet, maybe the later X_SVGA would help).

The little pointer scoots to the upper left and rarely budges far from that corner.

If set to serial, the PS/2 mouse does not do anything. I can get both internal and external PS/2 mice to work badly at the same time by changing BIOS setting. I tried both BIOS settings (auto and simultaneous). I tried with text screen stretched or not stretched.
