The links 0.90 which comes with BL3 can be set up to work with an image
viewer such as seejpeg or zgv, in setup. It only shows you one image at a
time, not 'inline' (it is on a separate page) but should be faster than
graphical links2.

You need to type ESC, then S (for Setup) and then edit Associations and File extensions to add zgv as a file for file types .tif .tiff .jpg .jpeg .jpe .gif .png .pnm .pbm .ppm. Or seejpeg to view only .gif and .jpg etc.

Ok I did not new that links could work with zgv or seejpeg but why not
seejpeg if that is in the slackware archiv is zgv better?

seejpeg views gifs and jpegs. zgv also views tiff and pnm and I think bmp
and probably other formats, but it is bigger.

You can simply install the whole svgalib and seejpeg packages. I forget
where I got zgv for BL3 - check my previous postings to the list. I will
look to see if I made a package of the basic libraries, and if not, try to
make one this week.

I was wrong.

Seejpeg requires only libvga.so.1, which can be extracted from either svgalib.tgz or elflibs.tgz.

Zgv for delilinux requires the Slackware 7.1 glibc-solibs 2.1.3 (whatever the exact name is, it is about 1.3M, or you can use the SW8.1 glibc-solibs instead, which lets you use some other precompiled programs such as xpdf) and also several other libraries, all found in elflibs.tgz.
libvgagl.so.1 52K
libvga.so.1 275K
libjpeg.so.6.2 127K
libpng.so.2 170K
libtiff.so.3 180K
libz.so.1q 62K
(and the usual libraries from glibc).

elflibs.tgz contains many other libraries that you don't need such as libslang and librle and libreadline, but they are not all that large and might be useful later.

Links2 from delilinux needs the SW7.1 glibc so package and the above libraries, so if you are going to install zgv from delilinux it is not much extra time and space to get and install links2 from delilinux.

Is there also a zgv compiled for BL3 which does not need the SW71 glibc?

I don't wont to install links2 it sounds to complicaded.
It really only requires a few packages - glibc2.2.5-so from SW81 is about
1MB, and then whatever package(s) contain(s) the dependencies. A
graphical viewer can be handy sometimes. Do you want to know
the dependencies for delilinux links2?

One thing about sound in. Mulinux there was a tool to play sound, for
instance wav fil to pc-speeker is that the same thing you can do with
the beep.tgz addon?

I have not tried it.

Thanks
Mikkel
