Hello Will! The "word processor" I'm assuming is vi, I was always bad with vi :D and I suggest you go to this page : http://docs.freebsd.org/44doc/usd/12.vi/paper.html for an introduction to vi. It will be needed.

Oh, and about the 2nd question, I don't know, I only used it by making a directory on my hda1 or C:\ drive or HD, etc. called baslin and I followed the directions on the BasicLinux website, and then I used an MS-DOS bootdisk to remove Windows, and install a bare-bones MS-DOS distribution, i.e just command.com and autoexec, and I pointed the autoexec.bat file to do this.

Start Typing

cd C:\baslin
c:
boot


Stop Typing
