I understand purging accounts that have email problems and are bouncing, but purging lurkers makes the list less useful and interesting to those of us who do post. Part of the reason for participating in a public forum is to learn and understand, and to help others learn and understand. People don't post for many reasons, but by simply listening, they play an important role in the community. Small is less interesting in an internet discussion group than this. Further, by purging them, we lose the opportunity of ever hearing from them.

Except for people I know or know of or people, lurkers included, who have
posted at least once I am purging the roster of all inactive accounts
and those with mail delivery problems. If I have unsubbed anyone in error
let me know and I will add you back. I have a list of all email ID's
unsubbed so far.
I purged 250 tonight and plan to purge more based on posting activity. I
would like to have a community of like minded folks who have a reason to be
in this list.
Suggestions welsome for doing/not doing this or how to go about
accomplishing this..
