Regarding the upcoming course in Florida, is that financial permaculture
course
in the "lineage" of the financial permaculture efforts of Hohenwald,
Tennessee
(cf Ethan Roland, Catherine Austin Fitts)?

Paul, I think you have missed the whole systems thinking perspective of
permaculture, which is kind of the biggest part of it.

You also might try to get to know John Stewart a little better before you
throw his name out there with permaculture. I don't know him, but my guess
is you have a media relationship with him which is probably not the fullest
representation of who he is, but instead a mental image.

I think Sepp Holzer would be wise to say, "no I'm not doing permaculture",
and come up with his own name for his particular bad ass gardening
technique. I have a hard time calling his work permaculture even though I
think it is totally ecological and amazing and I am jealous of his
productivity. I say Sepp took the garden to a whole new level, why not give
it it's own name?

Permaculture is much bigger than gardening techniques or any other one
thing. There is a seriously strong desire for people to use the word
permaculture for whatever cool ecological/countercultural/earth spirit
thing they are interested in. I don't particularly understand it. As Toby
essentially said, anyone who is using a term coined by someone else should
feel an ethical responsibility to honor what the founder intended. So is
John Stewart somehow an ethical permaculturist who doesn't know it just
because I think he is funny and agree with many of his political leanings?
No. Is Sepp Holzer a permie because he is an amazing land designer with a
ginormous green thumb? Not, in my book.

Permaculture is an ethical design system that is applied for sustainability
in all aspects of human endeavor. Take out the ethics and it crumbles.
Ethics are better deeply integrated into who one is, how one thinks, and
what one feels, as opposed to a recitable soundbite printed on a T-shirt.

I came to permaculture with an strong sense of ethics, and I think many
people do. It is still important to go into them in great depth for design
and teaching (as opposed to soundbite-style) as the foundation for
appropriate design.
