Another would be you get one moderation point a day. Or at random
intervals you get 5 points like on slashdot... something like that.

These would seem more equitable...slow but steady and equal flow to registered users, so they are more likely to use them based on protracted and thoughtful observation... :-)

True. Though if someone is really knowledgeable, it seems a shame to limit the amount of comments. Their TAPO may have accumulated over many years, and they are ready to share it, now. Not log in each day to add another comment.

Maybe there's a little side bar that shows most frequent commenters this week/day...you could find those that were abusing the system from their, and mods could get kick/delete rights from that bar...

Also, a user rank of (comment score / comment count) would seem to encourage useful and non-fluff comments...
