If you want good coffee, buy coffee grown at 3,000 elevation or higher. The world's best coffee is grown in Antigua, Guatemala. I was there and visited with a grower one day. He said that he does not drink 100% of his own coffee because it is so strong but dilutes it with some lowland coffee.

Buy any coffee as close to the source as possible, and it's a huge taste difference over what most people think of as good coffee.

I do wish the source was closer, though. I justified my purchase by buying a very large amount at one time (a 50-pound sack). So my contribution to transportation costs were lower overall than if I bought a pound here and a pound there. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
