Y'know, I went back and read through all of Chris' posts that I have on the list (and I, sadly, never delete anything), and didn't find him really remarking on religion at all, at least until Dave started attacking him for being Christian - a fact he seems to have picked up from a sig Chris was using on another list, is that right?
I used to sign something like:
Reverend Christian J Hedemark II
Hillsborough, NC
http://yonderway.com
(taken from archives at http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20010827/000393.html for anyone who wants proof for whatever reason).
Doing a full search of the TriLUG archives, I couldn't even find one example of a post that had the words "Jesus" and "Hedemark" in the same message.
I also went back to try to find out about this cartoon he was complaining about. WARNING: Don't follow the hyperlink in the following message if you are at work or offended by vulgar cartoons: http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20020826/010086.html is a link to the message that started that thread. I posted a simple response (http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20020826/ 010090.html) that basically warned people not to open it up at work, and to tell them that there may be objectionable content in there. Also I suggested that people put warnings up whenever making links to questionable material.
Shortly after that, Mr. Matusiak started soybombing the TriLUG list in some sort of retaliation. Examples:
http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20020826/010109.html
http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20020826/010110.html
http://www.trilug.org/pipermail/trilug/Week-of-Mon-20020826/010111.html
I don't think anyone really knew what the heck was going on in his mind. But I don't think he caught any flak for it. He vented, and got it out of his system, and life went on. A couple of people were really cheesed off that I put up a fair warning about the content of that link, and yes I think I was called a censor, but if you read my post I was *not* censoring but asking for reasonable warnings to be made when linking to porno, vulgar sites, anything that is likely to be objectionable to large groups of people.
So I'm really puzzled by (though not actually curious about) the animosity Dave seems to hold towards Chris.
I'm both puzzled *and* curious. When someone's thoughts and behaviors cannot be rationally understood, and a big heaping spoonful of hate is stirred in, it can be unsettling.
Unless he thinks it's justifiable to hate an entire group - particulary one as varied and wide-ranging as Christians - because of the actions of some of them.
I don't think it is all Christians though (even though his rant today implied that). Historically, he's had some kind of beef with me and I think I was on double secret probation or something because I really don't know what I did that was so eeeevil.
