Nah, ya have to go back to Eisenhower and McCarthy and the beginning of the "fear" era. That's when folks started buying into the b.s. and allowing the government to do their thinking for them. The real cradle to grave mentality began then.

Hey, what can I say. Public schools have been very successful in their true purpose. They can't teach reading, riting and rithmatic worth beans but they sure can do the indoctrination of sheople with great skill!

And for more info than you wanted on those nifty little tracking devices, search rfid at

Most of this crap started with Clinton, and I still don't see how a lot of it is constitutional. I know that people don't like to discuss it anymore, but I saw this coming after Ruby Ridge and Waco. The government saw right then if you were not exactly normal, it was okay to violate your rights, take your land, imprison you, and even kill you, and no one would pay. Those people might have had some nutty ideas ( so do I, not like theirs, but not kosher to some ) and even broken some stupid minor gun laws (so have I), but the acceptance of their civil rights being openly violated under color of authority, has led to even ACLU, type socialists like Obama voting IN FAVOR of FISA.

Starting in 18 days every passport will have a RFID chip.! ! ! You used to be able to drive to Mexico, from here, and spend the weekend at Rocky Point with nothing but a drivers license, now your every movement can be tracked instantaneously, and will be recorded. This is a big deal, but no one is talking about this.

Starting this week, FBI agents, who don't have any more education or make any more money than some on this list, can authorize themselves to surveil you, on a good hunch.

These things are frightening to me. But no one else seems to care. The government has used first the threat of home-grown terrorism (silly militia type) and now the threat of Islamic terrorism to change the meaning and intent of the Bill of Rights, and have destroyed the natural right to privacy and intentional anonymity.

College professors are indoctrinating students rather than teaching them how to think in a rational manner. Political talk has becoming nothing more than a battle of propaganda full of lies and distortions, on both sides, about, to me, relatively meaningless issues.

America is supposed to be about freedom. Our culture was not designed about capitalism, although that fits the freedom idea better than socialism. Our culture was not designed about collective well-being. It was designed about personal freedom. Everything goes back to personal freedom and liberty.
But, no everyone is talking about who gives the most "nuanced" answer to some ridiculous reporter's question. None of the so-called journalists are asking the right questions. The questions and answers should start with the destruction of our personal freedoms and then go to the fringe issues about which all of us like to chat . .........bobford

Hi William. I think your post needs clarifying. Feel free to add additional comments to what I will make. I know what I am going to do is a start and is not complete. Most of this is copied from other, government sources.

On May 9, 2007 President George Bush reasserted the role of the Federal government during a declared emergency by issuing Executive Order NSPD 51/ HSPD-20. The Order states that in the event of a ‘catastrophic emergency’ all ‘national essential functions’ may be taken over by the Executive branch of government and the Department of Homeland Security (including FEMA). [20]

NSPD-51/HSPD-20 is a direct reformulation of Presidential Decision Directive 67 of October 21, 1998 (”Enduring Constitutional Government and Continuity of Government Operations”). NSPD-51 basically recreates and replaces 67. It is different in some function due to this falling under Homeland Security’s jurisdiciton, but the primary goal of government continuity in the case of national emergency.

http://fas.org/irp/offdocs/pdd/pdd-67.htm

Here are some previous executive orders going back a few years. Many are revoked or amended by now. Many have been rolled into other documents. William, this is a very common "continuity of government" order that has been around in one form or another since the Cold War or earlier. Both parties have enacted such orders over the years.
Not to worry Bush becoming a dictator. A. He is not smart enough. B. He doesn't have the support he needs-even his own party has thrown him to the wolves.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports. Signed by JFK

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media. Signed by JFK

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals. Signed by JFK

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms. Signed by JFK

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision. (JFK)

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions. (JFK)

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons. (JFK)

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft. (JFK)

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations. (JFK)

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities. (JFK)

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis. Revoked and superceded by EO#12148 see below

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President. signed by LBJ

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period. Revoked by 12553, signed by Ronald Reagan

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. Signed in by Gerald Ford

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 12148 created the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that is to interface with the Department of Defense for civil defense planning and funding. An "emergency czar" was appointed. FEMA has only spent about 6 percent of its budget on national emergencies, the bulk of their funding has been used for the construction of secret underground facilities to assure continuity of government in case of a major emergency, foreign or domestic. Signed by Jimmy Carter

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 12656 appointed the National Security Council as the principal body that should consider emergency powers. This allows the government to increase domestic intelligence and surveillance of U.S. citizens and would restrict the freedom of movement within the United States and granted the government the right to isolate large groups of civilians. The National Guard could be federalized to seal all borders and take control of U.S. air space and all ports of entry. Many of the figures in the Iran-Contra scandal were part of this emergency contingent, including Marine Colonel Oliver North. signed by Ronald Reagan

EXECUTIVE ORDER 13083 SIGNED BY CLINTON, replaced by 13095

The Violent Crime Control Act of 1991 provides additional powers to the President of the United States, allowing the suspension of the Constitution and Constitutional rights of Americans during a "drug crisis". It provides for the construction of detention camps, seizure of property, and military control of populated areas.
