Hello,

Seeing as your referring to your location ("near us", "where I live") it would be good to have that general area. You also mention using "discontinued models from Europe", are these used wind generators? Is there a problem with them? I have never thought of a "discontinued" discount wind generator before... The ones I've seen have been big suckers, heavy, expensive to move and to set up. Take some serious capital to get one to a site & up in the wind.
Someone scamming for the public dollar is a fact of life (way out in the open the last 7 years). I see it in ethanol subsidies and can't imagine why it would not be in wind power too but something to back that up would be nice also.

Down towards the bottom you discount everything else that I have ever heard of as being an answer for 'not enough oil' anymore. What are you trying to say with all this?

Nothing does,

In my world reality seems to be a blend of things, I have no black or white issues, it's all some shade of gray. I think that energy is like that, keeping in mind that the cheapest energy is the energy you don't use, past that every little bit helps.
Changes will come, that's how the world works but I think we can make this change (as oil becomes more expensive) somewhat gradually.
The stone age did not end because we ran out of stones, no doubt the sail makers were really unhappy to see steamships as were the buggy whip makers to see cars.

I really don't want to get off sounding crotchety this morning but I have never noticed you posting here before, you don't sign your post so we have to guess who you are, you don't provide any answers to anything.
You do infer scams, cheating poor people and no hope with the changing world energy situation. Sitting here writing this I've either embarrassed myself by picking on a 'new guy' or you are just trolling this list looking for a reaction.
The only thing close to 'homestead' related was the mention of possibly a wind generator for your own place, have you given any thought beyond 'possibly'?
