Are you meaning economics, mostly? What do you see as the superior
alternative? Isolationism doesn't work. Where is the middle place? I
am certainly not if favor of being the world's traffic cop, let alone
morality judge, jury and enforcer.

Certainly a far more localized and diversified economy is superior in terms of resilience and overall stability as far as the lives of the 'average' person are concerned. Most 'homesteaders' seem to be drawn to an ethic of self-reliance and self-sufficiency, for a number of reasons- not least ethical ones and for a desire to create a more secure existence for themselves. Why should not the same ethic apply on the scales of community, state, country? I don't think that is isolationist at all- certainly most homesteaders recognize they cannot provide absolutely everything for themselves and are also well tied into their local community and interested or active in state, national and international issues. Globalism, as a neo-conservative project (neo-liberal if you're european), is a program for freeing the movement of capital from national and legal bounds so that it can more efficiently exploit economic and resource differences that are bound by national and legal bounds, as a means of concentrating wealth and power. Globalism implies a universal, when in fact it applies only to capital and goods. Real globalism would allow labor to move as freely as capital and goods, and eventually 'things would even out' so to speak (which is the promise globalists always make- that their program will equalize wealth and standard of living around the world). But that is not really the object of the program- the object is to constrain the mobility of labor and allow capital to move freely to exploit that constrained labor. For most people, yes, a form of isolationism probably would be better in that it might put some of the same constraints on capital that labor exists under...
