I find serenity in having Plans A, B and C.

Spoken like a man who is still healthy. There's a wonderful short
story by someone like Henry James (probably not the Master but someone
of that era) about a guy who buys an annuity that will allow him to
live in the style to which he is accustomed until he reaches a certain
age. Of course, the old fellow survives his annuity and spends his
declining years as a pathetic hanger on. While the original plan was
to kill himself if he outlived his income, he just can't bring himself
to do it.

I have sympathy for your plans, Gene, but people overwhelmingly don't
act that way.

Not saying that you wouldn't be an exception.
