I reasonably expect to see something along those lines. The only bottleneck
is the heavy metals that go into the batteries. Even with the relatively
small number of electric vehicles produced right now, the supply of battery
materials is squeezed and the pollution they are causing is a major problem.

Those problems could be overcome ... possibly.

There is touristy attraction not far from here, Tweetsie Railroad. In the
dim and distant there was a narrow gauge railway that connected Boone, NC and
Johnson City, TN. The engine mainly burned wood and it was not a quick trip.

The engine was eventually sold and was used in many of those western movies
of
the 40's and 50's. But it made it's way back between Boone and Blowing Rock
and there it chugs away to this day. (They also found two other engines just
like it as backups).

My fond visions run along those lines. If there were public transportation
available at the main highway (US 421) six miles from here, all we'd need is
the donkey cart to get us and our goods to and from there. Not having nor
needing a personal motorized vehicle woud be a profound blessing. </HTML>
