I received my first wasp sting of the season on my right forefinger on
Friday. Was thankful it wasn't a yellow jacket. Last year I made it through
the whole darn season--then got stung on Labor Day. On it goes.

This year I aim to reclaim the red raspberries. I'm ticked off that the bind
weed took over last year when I lacked time and energy to fight the battle.
I know it will be a Battle with a capital B, but I have it in me now.
Wondering aloud, do you all think if we heavily mulched now that it would
lessen the amount of bind weed? The stuff is so stubborn, I figure it will
occur no matter what I do or don't do, but perhaps mulch would help.

Scott (husband) pruned 80% of the fruit trees (those within the
garden--those outside the garden are waiting until Autumn) before the recent
warm weather and paid for it with swollen hands for two days. Not good for a
guitar player. He didn't have to do so much in 24 hours, but we lacked free
time and it had to be done. I pruned some, but my right wrist limits what I
can do.

We made a decision that the rototiller will be used to shorten time and
effort on new and old garden beds. Next year we can turn them with a shovel
again. Getting rid of railroad ties that edged garden beds as designed by
previous owner.

We're making some progress and it feels good.
