I think we should eliminate all well-fare, but
guarantee a job for everyone. If someone can't find a
job then they are given one. That could be in the
form of an agency that places people or it could be
done with government jobs. Even if it were "make
work" jobs the money that currently is budgeted for
welfare could go for any one of a number of public
service projects.
The job pay and requirements would be such to
discourage anyone who can find their own jobs but
would provide a safety net for those who can't.
Even for those who would do a minimum of work to get
by this would still be preferable to giving people
money with nothing given to the public in return.
What to do with mother's with young children? I'm not
sure but it couldn't be worse than what we have now.
