Goodwill, Salvations Army or whatever usually have those old insulated six-pack carriers or insulated little lunch bags for kids. I think we paid about 50 cents for the ones we bought.

When we go into town vs. going into the city for the once a month big shopping, I take blue ice that I've had around for years from when the kidlets played football and other sports. One on each side of the ice cream and its good to go even in our 115 degree summer days.

Lynda - I was looking for this...glad you reposted it.
Clever indeed, your daughter!
Perhaps the make-your-own-bags thread has just about run its course, but...
I live only about 8-10 minutes from 'town', but it's HOT here. Ideally, I'm sure,
such bags would be contsructed as simply as possible (simple=always better), but
I'm thinkng about some sort of insulation, made from recyclable whatever, of
course. I have yet to come home in recent days with anything resembling ice
cream, and forget about live plants and such.
Do packing peanuts have any insulating qualities? Bubblewrap? Any of that kind of
stuff that one accumulates and never finds a use for?
