I have a question. Who do you think PAYS for radio in any station? Advertisers. And the republican party no doubt pays for Limbaugh, as well as I believe it is a fact that Bill O'Reilly doesn't bring in the listeners to make money, but is being sponsored by big money.

air america is a fledgling operation. We successfully got it back on the airwaves here in Phoenix, after our station was bought up by a right-wing christian group.

the talk show hosts speak what most of us americans were thinking but were incredulous that it was not being spoken on the tv and radio.

i choose to think that, although we fight against insurmountable odds, that, if the american people had been truly informed about what is going on by the media, they would be in an uproar. Yes, people are money driven. Yes, we are too fat and lazy here in this country. But we are also a strong, decent, independent lot of people who are basically good. So there is hope.

look at 9/11, and the outpouring of help. loot at Katrina, and the outpouring of help. This was help by the people, not our government, who, luckily for 9/11, it was still pretty much those in charge from Clinton administration, who had a semblence of qualifications and experience. we now know what this bunch has done to strip us of our future. however, as in the past, - and it may take a decade or two - people WILL rise up, revolt, and change the course of history.

One hears quite often that we can make a difference at the ballot box, but I would opine that this is no longer true.

The rallies, protests, 'getting the information out', and all such are useless.
What is driving world affairs is our (collective) lifestyle. We would not be in the Iraq war were there not a demand to enforce our control of the world oil market to keep the McMansions heated and cooled and to buy the gas to commute 60 miles from them to useless make-work jobs in climate controled offices.

For everyone persuaded to tune into Air America (which now has to PAY stations to run its programming) there are five people recommending that folk tune in Limbaugh and Boortz. I'm not endorsing one over the other, only staying they are equally as usleless in changing the status of things.

It doesn't matter who you put into congress or the White House; it doesn't matter who is CEO of what and how much they are paid. So long as the people think that success is the number of cubic inches in the engine and the square teet of the McMansion, we will do what it takes to secure the fuels for this lifestyle.

ONLY a drastic reduction in consumption is going to make a difference. And make no mistake, that reduction is coming either voluntarily or by dire necessity.

My money is on the latter.
