Marie, H$LDA is trying to get new legislation written just so they have information on homeschoolers. Parents can opt out from the p.s. IF they know about the forms. Most p.s. aren't giving out the information. Just one more sneaky clause in NCLB.

<<I don't know how
many times they are going to attempt it but this time they have added in a
military clause that requires giving info to the military so they can come
knocking on the door!>>

Parents can opt out of that one, and some districts are very cooperative --
mostly in upscale areas where Mama goes ballistic when she answers the phone
and finds a Marine recruiter on the other end of the line. But, however,
parents have to know about the clause *and* know they can opt their kids'
names out *and* have the gumption to go tell the superintendent they want
the names off the list *and* make sure the sup follows through.

Marie, appalled at the intrusion by the feds into local affairs enforced by
NCLB. The Republicans used to block laws like these.
