It is the same reason I refuse to make any kind of move to California. The
risk of earthquake is too high for me. I will also never live in a major
forested area, because of high fire risk. I have experienced consequences of
those choices, which I have accepted.

FWIW I think a 'real' winter is a regularly scheduled natural disaster. Like all disasters you have to prepare for it. When we moved to Chicago after leaving Hawaii and winter came along I learned a lot. I'd never lived where there was a 'real' winter before.

let's see... earthquakes, tornados, fires, tidal waves... boy the risk free places are getting slim <G>!
