Kathyann volunteered :
>_Manifold Destiny_cookbook for truckers

That does sound familiar .... many thanks ! so I
clicked back to my library online screen and
here's how it looks on my screen :

Manifold destiny : the one! the only! guide to cooking on your car engine
/<http://ipac.spl.org/ipac20/ipac.jsp?session=1096S35355GV2.2717&profile=dial&uri=search=TL~!Manifold%20destiny%20:%20the%20one!%20the%20only!%20guide%20to%20cooking%20on%20your%20car%20engine%20/&term=Manifold%20destiny%20:%20the%20one!%20the%20only!%20guide%20to%20cooking%20on%20your%20car%20engine%20/&aspect=BeginsWith&menu=search&source=~!dial>

ISBN: 0679723374 :

Dynix Number: 1105795

Availability: Holds: 0

so I put a hold on it to be picked up and got this reply :

Copy/Holding information

Library Central branch

Collection ask at reference desk

Call No. 641.58 M451M

Status Due: 16 OCT 04

which may mean that I can not get it at *my* branch -

but not to worry - there is also another "tab" option

at the library site that will allow me to order it from

some other library as an Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

(usually) as I did the copy of a UK book printed in

1937 as a revision of a 1580 volume - those British

really *do* have a reverence for history .... sigh ....

If you're curious, it was Thomas Tusser's book

"500 points of Good Husbandry" and worth the

wait - the first half of the book was in rhyme

and the second half explained most of the

unfamiliar words from that era ....

(and how I met my husband- he waited to see who was cooking their supper on
the dashboard of a car and showed me under his hood)

Well, hey, that was darn nice of him ! and - - - -
did you offer to show him what was under your - oops !
I do love people like me who set themselves up ....
Thanks, Kathyann - please don't be offended ?

And Don ? Have you read "Blue Highways" (by
William Least Heat Moon") ? and "Travels with Charley"
and "On The Road" and and and .... oops, gotta scratch
these itching heels and go back to my armchair ...

Conserve your cash - use your library's
Interlibrary Loan function - as time allows ...

When I took some classes on "Aging -
and Its Ramifications" years ago from
the Extension Service of my State's
Land College, I learned that I was very
fortunate.

When one moves from a home to an
apartment/other (for whatever reason)
one tends to want to cram into the
smaller space all those 'things' that
provided comfort and *good* memories.
It's very difficult to overcome that urge.

There may be a 'final move' - if you are
so unfortunate as not to die before then -
into a place where someone else controls
your future - and one parts with *many*
more of one's 'things' that provided
comfort and *good* memories. My
"good fortune" was that my driver's
license and my library card would suffice
for the first move - and the library card
would be the last to go .... but that
was back in 1980-something, and
since then we have PCs ... so although
I prefer the 'hard copy' of books, I
may have to make do with "The Screen"
one day. I hope not ....

Anyway - if you need spectacles, be
sure to keep an extra pair or two around -
and if you don't, one day you may need
just 'magnifiers' you can get from the
drugstore - I really 'feel' for those people
who are nearsighted and need long-range
spectacles ....

If you can make the switch to juice
instead of soda, and fresh instead of
packaged, including the banana-a-day,
and - - - you are able to get the
stress(es) you are currently under to
a more manageable level, you may
discover less need for prescriptions ....

I've been operating on the "you are
what you eat" for some years now
and my system is gradually giving
up (or adjusting to ??) the lack of
'poisons'. Who knows ? Maybe you'll
be lucky, too ??

Of course they they aren't as guilt ridden <g> We've decided that if all
