LOL! I agree on both points! However, if you're from Durham like me and
don't want to make the trip to raleigh just to see who's playing, note that
all I ever have to do is start typing "local band" into my facebook search
and I don't even have to get to the first 'a' before I see:

"Local Band-Local Beer w/ The T's & Static Minds"

Bam, done. Of course it doesn't help me because I can almost never make the
thursday show at tir na nog unless I'm playing.

Again, good point. Although if you ever stop posting these updates I will
hunt you down.

Their last show was Troika. They have a giant banner up behind the bar
advertising their St. Patty's Day party with live music, raffles, etc, but
they had those made before the bands were confirmed. And they have a
website <http://www.bullmccabesirishpub.com/>, created by the incomparable
Tracy Hancock, bartender/graphic designer extraordinaire if I'm not
mistaken. They have a Cystic Fibrosis show on 3/14, and I'm working on a Cy
Rawls/Angels Among Us fundraiser/rally on 4/18, a week before everyone
reading this hits the track for the Angels Among Us
5k.<http://www.angelsamongus.org>*cough*jointhecyrawlsposse*cough*

But yeah, this kinda goes to my earlier point. Tir Na Nog hasn't been
having rock shows that long, McCabes rarely has shows. Even though both
websites have links to music/events or whatever, they're not set up as
"venues" perse. And while they should promote their shows better, we all
know that word of mouth/TriangleRock/Reverbnation/Facebook/Myspace/ combine
to form a veritable Voltron of promotion.

And yes while I have the choice of which Voltron body part to assign to each
entity, I'm giving TriangleRock the head and not the dick, mostly because
I'm trying to be somewhat sincere in the midst of all the joking, and
TriangleRock/ThingsToDo is unparalleled in the service it provides this
community.

If it makes you feel better, there was a concerted effort to keep the bands
more quiet and laid back. Get there early, grab a booth, have a meal, and
enjoy. I definitely share your concern, as do many other folks.

On the one hand the last few bands just got confirmed last week. On the
other hand, it's odd that this is the first you've heard about it
considering I invited you to the facebook event on February 14th and you
have yet to reply!

If you're going to add this disclaimer you should at least remove the
"literally" above. I don't know that you don't check facebook events!
Saying it's the first you've heard about it because you were plugging your
ears the actual first time you heard about it is hardly an excuse! I let
facebook event invites add up before I address them as well. But I can no
longer say I didn't know a particular show was happening. What you're
saying is kinda like me saying I didn't know about a particular show because
I delete your things to do this week email without reading it because I get
so many emails every day.

Anyway, point taken about the facebook invite, and it's a fair point. Can't
make people look at shit they don't want to look at. This is why I try to
combine facebook with evites or actual, old fashioned emails when letting
people know about the exciting social events I expect you to skip!
