I managed to get BL installed, but now it is saying it can't find baslin/fs.img. Darn. How would I fix this?

The PC is unable to boot DOS. Unfortunately. It's a Compaq Presario M2207AP.

I have mounted the DOS fs.img as a loop device and I am editing the install-to-hd script to work in my setup (removing the check to see if folder is empty) and chroot'ed into the image to run it.

Hopefully that will work!

I don't understand.  Are you saying your system is
unable to boot DOS?  Ever?  Or, are you saying you
have installed BL3 to HD and now DOS won't boot?
As far as I know, the only thing in the BL3 install
that would cause DOS to fail would be using fdisk
and/or mke2fs to overwrite the partition where DOS
resides.  Obviously, that is a mistake.

Cheers,
Steven
