It's one of the standard plugin for Firefox (1.5).
It provides a Realplayer9 interface and a
WindowsMediaPlayer interface which output
via mplayer. By using this plugin I can
now stream several sites that I was unable
to stream before.

Please explain.

Download the mplayerplug-in package. There are several
different versions. I am using version 3.31. You'll
find the plugin at various places. I'm not sure where
I got the package I am using, but I probably got it
from linuxpackages.net

I found version 2.66 at linuxpackages, for SW 10.0.

The mplayerplug-in package contains .so and .xpt
files.
The .so files go into your Firefox plugins directory.
The .xpt files go into your Firefox components directory.

The Slackware package assumes you have installed firefox not just unpacked it into its own directory. I will unpackage and copy the README and xpt to /firefox*/plugins and the so to /firefox*/components

This says it is for playing embedded movies on webpages, which means it needs to play movies and access URLs by name not number and therefore won't work with what I compiled (audio only) or the uclibc version (DNS problem) so please do provide your script. It plays Windows Media, Quicktime, MPEG.

I will try again to compile a movie-playing version against glibc.

Steven
