A bit out of practice with Linux these days. Using BL 3.5, I am trying
to bring up my ethernet card by typing ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1 up.
In response I get:

SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device

The ethernet card is the 3-Com 3C905C-TX that works fine with "the
other" operating system.

I have a 3com card with 3c905 chip. Unlike Windows, the same driver usually works for anything with the same chip.

insmod 3c59x

Is there a way to identify the chip in BL without looking at it physically? Such as reading /proc/pci? I have devices 0 1 7 15 etc with distinct numbers associated.

I can start Googling this thing, or I can just ask here, or both. With
three (3) other old computers sitting around here, I am going to have
at least one of them available for online browsing with links.
