Oh, I meant to check on this ..

Just turned on my new (old) laptop, which I have BL 3.5 on.

Well, dmesg says

3c59x.c

eth0: 3Com 3c905C Tornado

uname -a says BasicLinux 2.2.26

3c59x.o is in /lib/modules/2.2.26/misc and is 29412 bytes

After I plugged in the cable to the router and executed /etc/rc,
it pings and connects to the Internet just fine.

(Haven't yet gotten BL 3.5 to connect via the onboard wireless
adapter)

(and I'm going to go back to static address, eg
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.51 up
route add default gw 192.168.1.1 )

(sorry, don't know at the moment which kernel - I assume it was
the 458327
byte zimage )

Thanks,

Sheldon
