The mtekscan package took 2 seconds to compile at 450 MHz. First install the packages needed for compiling in BL3.40 such as egcs, gcc, and binutils.

Download http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/mtekscan-0.2.tar.gz

Unpackage it in some directory such as /src, then cd mtek*

type 'make' and wait a few seconds

I have posted the glibc 2.2.5 version along with the README at my bl site as mtekscan and README.mtekscan. I have not yet tried them. If you upgrade to Slackware 8.1 glibc you can try them yourself. 57K binary.

I don't have space in this BL3.4 setup (I filled all 100MB somehow
making other packages) to compile.

The hp package is not so simple and may have to be added to kernel source code and compiled as part of the kernel . ? It complained about not having that. There are patches for kernel 1.X mentioned in the .c file.

I found a page with links to scanner programs for various models of scanners. Yours appears to be a Microtek-compatible, which would be supported by the very first (1.0.0) version of SANE, or also by a small (37K) package of source code mtekscan-0.2.tar.gz

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/apps/graphics/capture

has links to mirror sites with packages for many scanners and apparently also some cameras. Coolpix, quickcam, some Kodaks. (We have one quickcam that in Windows is treated like a scanner).

I mirrored the mikrotek package (for Genius ColorPage-SP2) at:
http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/mtekscane-0.2.tar.gz
along with the hpscanpbm.tar.gz package for HP
(I also posted the BL3 netpbm package for printing pbm files).

The hp package consists of one .lsm and one file in .c, but no Makefile.

The mtek-0.2.tar.gz has README, Makefile and many other files. I did not check for scanimage - maybe they use a different method.

I think SANE eventually incorporated all available linux scanner software into a much larger package (3MB or so in later versions).

Do you know how to compile?
