David gave a link for a binary that he, I (and possibly Steven) have
gotten to install and run on BL3.4--so long as you add the other libraries
David listed in his recent post about how to do this. Those are some bits
from Slack 9.0. It might not be as simple as it might seem to get your
scanner to work from a Win9x instance running under qemu, though. It
emulates hardware, and I'm not sure it can access a real parallel port
(assuming your scanner uses a parallel port).

From the QEMU Changelog <http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/changelog.html>:

version 0.8.0:

The binary is .../qemu/download/qemu-0.8.0-i386.tar.gz and is 2.5MB

The source can be compiled with gcc 2.96 and glibc 2.2.5, or gcc 2.3 and glibc 2.1.3 and 2.4.18 kernel or a later one- anyone want to try this so as to avoid SW9.0? glibc 2.2.5 is already needed for Opera and xpdf binaries.

You need to edit Makefile to specify your kernel.

gcc 2.95 I think is said not to work right.

Kernel 2.4 is needed for the precompiled accelerator.
