David, I could not compile libtiff.

I have SW71 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.3.4 (libc6) and the /usr/local/lib/ libtiff.so.3.6.1 that you compiled for libc5 and I need to use a script that you helped with to distinguish between them. (I presume the lib in /usr/local/lib is read first). Luckily I rarely get tiffs sent to me and when I do I tackle them with the libc5 version (netpbm converts to pnm).

I think I can specify in the Makefile.config to use the earlier, libc6 version, but it might not handle multipage tiffs.

How did you compile libtiff? tiff_dirread.c gave me problems.
