No, since usb.s has scsi and sd set to Y. (I just checked:)

No, not if both scsi and sd are built in. I just looked at the usb.s
config, and it appears that everything except usb-storage is set
to Y. So you ought to be able to just insmod usb-storage if you
use usb.s.

Or maybe usb-uhci was already set to Y.

Only if you are not using usb.s or equivalent.
