I have a DOS package that is supposed to do all that, but I have not yet

It requires a specific driver (which is included) to be loaded before it can
write to my IDE CD burner, and it got to be too complicated. So I have only
been burning CDs with Linux.

Is this aspi.sys? (scsi driver that goes into config.sys - this is what
DOS cdrecord seems to use).

Yes.

Can you just put into config.sys the line
device=aspi.sys (with path to aspi.sys if not in main directory)?

DOS cdroast and/or cdrecord had some way to install the driver on the fly and then remove it afterwards. If you don't have those (one of them is a very slow download) I can look it up. I managed to unautomate the process so as to choose the second cd-rom drive. I would like to know how to install/uninstall DOS drivers without config.sys anyway (so we can omit the two USB drivers from config.sys, which slows down booting because they keep looking for a USB device).

From Golden Hawk Technology: cdburner.zip 1.7 MB

I ran across mention of this - it may be based on one of the other two programs (cdroast?). I will check it out some time for copying music CDs. Thanks.
