Yes. You probably need new phone equipment from the phone company,
an ISDN modem, drivers for that, and other things.

Extra charge?

Yes. I don't know if SDF will charge more, but your local Baby Bell
will charge $arm + $leg a month for the ISDN line. You get a very
reliable link at about twice the speed of a fast 56k modem. The
overall cost is likely more than cable or DSL, for a slower but
more reliable link.

<shameless display of ignorance> I didn't even know for sure what ISDN was when I started looking into sdf's dialin plans </shameless display of ignorance> so I did some searching on it. It seems to be a dated technology that was all the rage before the advent of DSL. They seem to presume that anyone getting it is going to *have* to be a commercial entity, so you end up calling the commercial customer service dept. The plans I looked into were ridiculously expensive. *Alot* more than dsl or even cable, but quite a bit slower. I can't understand why anyone would use it in this day and age. And it does take special equipment, and is alot more troublesome to set up from what I read.
