I will find a DOS md5sum program later and see what it says about the file
downloaded via kermit direct-dial. In the meantime, the DOS ftp from
Redhat wget download unzipped properly and I am online with BL3 floppy.

The hard part was getting two good 1.44 floppy disks. Apparently they get
tarnished or something while sitting around. A first format showed 9-80K
bad sectors. A second format showed all good sectors except on the disk
with 130K bad. The second format was done on a different computer but
scandisk on this one confirmed all good (and it worked for BL3 image
file). So now we can repair a few more floppy disks and make several
copies and hope one works on the laptop, where DOS ppp won't work.
