You can use that method to boot any Linux that has
a root filesystem sitting on a HD partition. All
you need to do is extract the kernel image file and
put it on a DOS boot floppy with loadlin.exe.

The only space it saves is the space occupied by
the zimage. For BL3 that is 435kb.
