Steven explained recently how to boot BL3 on HD from a DOS boot disk. Can
the same be done for BL1, i. e., not have a DOS partition but boot linux
from a DOS floppy disk? This would save hard disk space, but would boot a
bit slower than directly from hard disk.

I think it just involved making a DOS boot disk with an autoexec.bat file
containing the line boot.bat, and a boot.bat file pointing to the file
system on hard drive (hda1 or hda2, depending which is swap partition),
and having zimage on the boot disk. I should try this for fun.

Have you tried using BL1 itself as a 2-floppy rescue disk? Or BL3?
Would the latter work better in low RAM? They both do fdisk.

You are certainly pushing linux to the limits. Why do you want to use
this particular computer for programming?
