Dear Randall:

Some time ago I made an unusual reading of a jewish coin, showing a
crossbow and a rocket. It was the legendum kaf x Qof, so that the exergue of
epigraph made explicit as the crossbow and the currency defined the size of
the projectile.

The symbol [X], was used as a kaf by the phoenicians, and remained in
the reduced hebrew of the Roman Empire, but this sign in ancients was also
confused with the Qof in Phoenician and Hebrew alephats, so that the
currency suggested in this design one masoretic reading, "jqq".

There was another reason to read in this unusual way, as some punic
alephats had assimilated the two sounds in a single symbol in some cities.
