>I would tend to agree about Biblical times, but the transliterations in
the LXX indicate a softening had taken or was in the process of taking
place. That's post-Biblical, of course, but it brings the change down a
lot closer than c. 1000 AD.

The discussion is a little offbase. Among George's list of six nouns,
five of them were NOT bdgkpt, any way. So the bgdkpt discussion is
a red herring.

the question should be:
was Hoq related to H.q.q.? It does it fit a known pattern where geminate
roots produce two-consonant forms, e.g. dal 'poor, weak, reduced' from d.l.l.
Hoq also has an MT form Huqqim with a dagesh in qof and preserving
the presumed earlier vowel 'u'. So the MT form fits within all of the
trajectories. Just like dal with its dagesh in lamed, though 'a' vowel.
