First off, I just want to say I am extremely impressed by the effort
everyone has put in on this. People are stepping up and working together
towards a common goal, thats awesome.

I think this fix (or the init.d one) is the "long pole" in the sense that
its the most complex and requires the most testing. Theres nothing wrong
with that, fixing it takes however long it takes. However, releasing
it with to little testing may be bad. On IRC I suggested we consider
contingency plans if there are unanticipated issues with this spell.

Contingency possibilities I know of are either leaving it as it is, or
rolling the upgrade back. I dont know the technical details so Im not
in a position to evaluate this on my own. But I do think we need a plan.
Can someone closer to this give an update?

I think we should try for this weekend. Exercising contingency plans if
necessary. We've built up a good momentum and we shouldn't wait too long
before starting the next cycle.

I too am not worried about a week slippage on this release given the
number of changes and this being our first run at this. We can bring the
next releases in.

My internet access is fairly stable, and plan on getting dsl thursday.
So I can drive things to completion.
