Not the developed seeds (successful seed dispersal dictates that the fruit
ripen after the seed is mature, eh?)
AND not the irritating hairs that the seeds nest in. (well, apples use
cyanide to protect their seeds, eh?)

Acc. to "Plants of Coastal B. C." (Pojar & MacKinnon) the Haida name for
Rosa nutkana translates to "makes-you-shit-blood" This is a reason why
rosehip jam, although ecsquisite in taste, is exspensive and/or uses apple
to exstend the quantity of hips. You have to spoon out the seeds first.
