Hi Marie! I'm planning two small beds of fall/winter crops. They are planned around parsnips and leeks that I'd like to leave in the ground as long as possible. I'm also planning to plant beets, carrots, endive, and more lettuce in those beds. I will cover the beds, maybe with a double cover like Coleman's 'quick tunnel' with remay inside, but I want to be able to get into them easily for winter harvesting.

I'm also planning fall peas. Does anyone have any tips for this? I counted back the number of days to maturity from our first expected frost, so I should plant around July 20. Will they do OK with summer heat early in their growth? ('Summer 'heat' here means mid-80's).  We have a long period of mild weather with occasional frosts in the fall...I know the plants are frost-tolerant, but will they keep producing peas after frost?

Regards to the list:

It is almost time here in zone 5 to plant fall crops. What are you all planning to put in for the fall crops?
