I'd plant basil around the tomatoes. Basil is a pretty
plant, and a traditional 'companion' for tomatoes, if I
remember correctly. And there's no such thing as too much
fresh basil...There are purple varieties too.

Marigolds are always recommended in vegetable gardens too.
Theoretically, they repel bad insects. I don't know if it's
true or not, but they're pretty and certainly do no harm.

I think lettuce would work nicely around peppers - it could
use some shade from the hot summer sun. You could grow
various types and colors of lettuce. Peppers are
nice-looking plants anyway, and they'd really be pretty with
lettuce around them.

>Okra- do any of you grow something under your okra?

Sorry, I don't grow okra. Don't like it.
