Having rules doesn't mean being inhuman. Extenuating circumstances were
always considered. But simply deciding you've had enough or it's too hot is
no reason to pull up stakes and go home. When you're in business, and
customers expect the business to be open during advertised hours, the market
as a whole loses credibility when you leave.

On the other hand, if a market has several vendors ready to leave early,
then the hours of operation need to be reconsidered.

I'm a farmer. But I'm also a professional. Arriving on time, keeping
tables full, and treating the last customer as well as the first is a mark
of good business, a mark that will create repeat customers.
