I'll give it a try. I left the old 256 MB chip in it when I bought new RAM
so I'll pop that sucker out for a while.

I had a similar random-freeze problem with my old Blue-n-White G3.
Your issue might not be the same as mine, o'course, but mine went away when
I replaced one of the RAM modules. All of a sudden I had an extremely
reliable machine again. If you have extra RAM around, or if you have enough
RAM that you can take your modules out one at a time and still boot OSX,
give it a shot - you might get lucky like I did.
