Using "Remember Pearl Harbor" to show how he protected the nation is like...well...saying "Remember I got robbed even though I knew the robber was going to come" to promote your security.

He could've used something better and more appropriate.

phew that was like pulling teeth.

no question FDR's civil rights record was the worst being the only president
to imprison individuals based solely on their race. do i think it was wrong
for him to use that as a political slogan? NO. he's commenting on his
record in defending the nation. (although if i lived in his time i would be
screaming "yeah, i remember pearl harbor and your isolationism did nothing
to prevent it!")

it seems as if no method of persuasion or logic is going to
have any effect. all that must happen is for me to answer
this question, without due consideration to its relevancy in
our current place and time.

what is my personal opinion? what do i think, regardless of
my employer, saviour, political affiliation, or gender?
well, in my personal unfettered opinion,

YES - i think it was wrong for FDR to use that tack as a
campaign slogan.

i believe we must honor our soldiers, living and dead, but i
think that using their sacrifice as a political gambit is deplorable.

that, and i think that the whole 1940s/50s way of thinking
(which included such greats as "Remember Pearl Harbor") did a
whole lot to engender hatred and bigotry towards Asian
peoples and Asian-Americans for the past 50+ years.

i think we have to change things quite a bit (like our
attitudes) if we are going to see ANY improvement in our
lifetimes. thus, you can see that i am not in agreement with
the "Things must stay as they are"
party.

well although david tried to make the case that its unacceptable to
compare events in history to today, he gave himself away
when he did
just that:

"but i can tell you without question, George W. Bush is no FDR."

now that we know he can compare a previous president to the
current,
will he answer the question?

was it wrong for FDR to use pearl harbor in his
presidential campaign
material?
YES or NO?
