I concur in part with your observation. people are too busy trying to
scramble for food/rent money.
>From what I can tell, people are bombarding their representatives offices
>with objections to what is going on, and the representatives are ignoring
>the calls.
So, short of ouright revolution, I suspect we wait for the next election and
boot them out.
Ron Paul's group is training people to be politicians and run for office, and
make REAL changes.
I know the county north of me, the democratic chair told his boys he couldn't
guarantee they'd get re-elected in that very dem county,,,,,,,, because
people are really angry and getting more and more vocal about it.
The revolution effort is still out there. I don't know how many will make it
to DC on 9/12, that could be interesting. I've been keeping the news turned
off for the most part, as the typical political lines repeated on TV make me
nauseaus and get me too angry.
Bottom line is to find people who believe in a much smaller government, get
them trained to run for office (anything from school board, to town/county
government on up) and run for office to boot the looters out (which includes
republicans and democrats, just to be clear).
I hope some people truly educated in Austrian economics run for office, as
this will be key to dealing with the massive problems. Peter Schiiff is
exploring running up in the NE, and I hope he does.
On the other hand, it really seems that things are so out of control, that
unless a person running for office promises things that can never be
fulfilled are the only ones who get elected. I think if that attitude is
still prevelent in '10, then "we're doomed"....
(well, not some of the homesteaders.... but as a society)

So what can we do about it? I didn't vote for the current set of morons, but
I'm stuck with them. I thought I felt a little rumble of revolution several
months ago, but now people are too busy trying to hang on to what they have
to DO anything.

Really, disappointed? yes, those were the ones I was thinking of. :-(
It's ok if they just taste like potatoes.......... I thought it would be
funny if "city looters" came to steal potatoes to tell them they were
diseased............ hahahahaha, maybe soaked up some old nuclear material or
something.
Hoe? What's that? I used a shovel.... LOL,. (The shovel here is easier....
it's just beach sand.)

If you mean the 'all blue' I tried them once and they were a disappointment.
I don't know what I was expecting, but the website below describes it best
"The flavor is remarkably normal for such a distinctively visual variety."
I'm don't think they can ship to the US but this is the best site I've found
up here for variety with a description and some decent pictures of what
potatoes are out there. I think the "sold out" is just there way of turning
off orders.
http://www.seedpotatoes.ca/ecatalogue.htm
I ordered a few varieties from them this year along with planting some
smaller potatoes I had left over from last year.
The only problem I've run into this year is I can't find my hoe - and a
shovel doesn't work as well for hilling up the potatoes as they're growing.

Jaded - aren't we all...... I get really upset at some of the stuff that is
going on....
I can't remember if I mentioned my preacher friend,,,,,,, but he's hired an
ACLU lawyer, who took his case pro-bono. Should get interesting if they
can't settle that case (against the SSAdmin) quick before a case gets filed.
Its a lawyer's dream case in terms of legal arguments.
This preacher, somehow well versed in economics and politics,,,,,,,,, is
convinced that all the protests, phone calls, emails, etc. are futile, and
that the only effective action would be for a wide scale "ghandi" type
move.... stop paying taxes, refuse to participate in being fleeced by the
fleecers from all angles (taxes, shopping, fueling up, etc.) Go on strike,
but not for just a short time, a long time.
I suspect the gov't would just print the money anyway, at least for a while,
until they think people won't give up.

us in lives. We wouldn't be worried about North Korea today if Clinton
had not sold them technology. We say we don't negotiate with
terrorists, but we send envoys and talk to terrorist nations and
mentally ill leaders. Crazy, but it is all okay because the ends
justify the means. There is no thought to the message that this action
sends to the rest of the world.
Of course, the economy is getting better, or so the media says, and we
all know that we can trust the media in the Land where the Press is
Free, and money is free, it grows on trees in middle class and low
income neighborhoods and in rural America. At least Madoff is
guaranteed three meals a day and healthcare for life. He had his cake,
and ate it, too.
Bev, feeling a bit jaded today.
