We see this a lot when the divorce is messy AND there is a question about the religion that the children are being exposed to. Sound Doctrine is considered to be a quasi-cult.

As to the reference to Dems, the party is generally working hand in glove with the NEA. Public school is their god.

NC is a rather easy state to homeschool in. Seems to me that if she has followed the rules (turned in the appropriate paperwork) and meets the requirements (at least a high school diploma or equivalent) and has maintained records on each "student," then she has grounds to fight this.

Plus, under the Federal mandate, NC set up a real bunch of hoops to come up with child support. The judge is playing with it by doing the sometimes with the mother, sometimes with the father inorder to not award her the amount of child support he should be awarding her as primary custodian.

Lots of balls in action here. Lots of games on the judges part and on the father's attorney's part. Should be interesting to see how it plays out on appeal.

I don't understand why it matters if the Judge is a Democrat or not. I
skimmed the article so might have missed something. Wasn't sure if that was
quoted directly from a newspaper article or not. I know many so-called
liberal Dem's who homeschool (including my family). FWIW, this kind of stuff
happens now and again regardless of what political flavor a family might
be--or the Judge.
