Bob is worried that the kocal light rail system cost was morev rthan a
billion dollars. Hard as it may be to believe, any and all
infrastructue systems are going to be pricey. Phoenix residents will
likely be thrilled to have it when gas resumes its inexorable march
toward European-like prices(unless the water gives out first and they
all have tio abandon the area like the Anasazi before them).

I used the Chicago mass transit system for a decade in the 1970s. It
was fine. My niece who has lived in and commuted to and from southside
and near northwest side neighborhoods in the last five years says
buses and trains are still fine. Americans seem to be afraid to be in
public places, but when enough people get out and about public places
get safer.

Bob, what do you think all the extra highways for people who are
afraid to get out of thei cars cost?

Marie
