Tai Chi is GREAT exercise... the slower the better.

I find that in the summer there is a lot of gentle exercise...lots of
alking, bending, weeding, etc, along with the heavier shoveling and
auling. I'm a lot more active in summer. In the winter, I sit a lot, with
purts of heavier work...hauling wood and shoveling snow. I find that if I
on't keep up with the bending, stretching, and walking, the heavier work
ets to my back. So I do the Walk Away the Pounds (not safe walking outside
ow...5' tall snowbanks on both sides of the road) and the Tai Chi.

Homestead work may have enough variety to keep this from happening,
but I've known some who did physical work that exercised some muscles
more than others, and that could create a problem? Is there a case
for exercising to make sure that all muscles are included? Van Dell

This has been one of my main concer
ns. I know, that working around
ere, that I don't get the cardio that I do from biking. In fairness,
'm not out swinging a scythe either. I do swing a slingblade when I
ake out the high grass in the road ditch, but that's not the same. I
lso know that I have a tendency to do things one way..for example, if I
end over to pick up something, I might brace with the same foot and
each with the same hand. It is so automatic that I just don't think of
lternating. Generally, I carry left armed/left shoulder, and use my
ight hand to open doors or load/unload. I think that is why my left
icep always hurts, that and perhaps it just bothers me from where I
roke my arm a few years ago. I know I should swap arms, but it just
oesn't feel right, and the last time I brought in wood on my right arm,
I dropped a log on my toe...
