Sandy, are you farming in desert conditions?

The list has been so bizzy, bizzy the last several days! As usual, I've
just
been hangin' back and absorbing 'stuff'...

But I can't let the 'anti-doctor' comment pass by. So glad to meet
another!

I can't begin to recount how many times I've been prescribed
conflicting
medications...by the same physician - sitting right there in front of me,
consulting his dog-eared edition of the PDR...

Last time around, it took them four days - in a hospital bed - and 7
(seven!) drugs to finally figure out that my gall bladder and I need to part
company.

Pleeze!

Two of those prescriptions, in conjunction, are 'known to cause early onset

dementia'. Maybe I wrote this before? Sometimes memory does not serve (the

result, no doubt, of listening to too many doctors) <g>

I must have missed that when it was originally discussed.
In the South, any cellar is generally referred to as a root cellar,
sometimes as a storm cellar. They are rather uncommon here, but more
are dug all the time as storm protection. Anyway, those that are part
of someone's house are very often used to store canned goods, as it
would usually be cooler and darker in the cellar than in the house.
More modern houses would have a basement, and in those houses, that's
where canned goods were stored. I grew up in a house with a basement,
and we had shelves and shelves of canned food in the basement, kind of
under the stairs..
Probably your concern is freezing, is it not? Realize that in the Deep
South, where Bob is likely from, winter temps barely get below freezing,
and a cellar, insulated by dirt, would be far warmer than the outside.
Also, freezing temps would come in late January or early February, last
only a few days.. By that time of year, supplies have dwindled to the
point that they would probably fit in the kitchen pantry...
Anyway, just wanted to comment on that-it's not quite as crazy as it
might sound.

Bev
