I chopped up some of the Quorn and made it into a standard chicken salad for some octegenarian ladies that were visiting. They thought I'd actually cooked chicken for them, and argued at their age they know what chicken tastes like. I had to get the product box out of the garbage can to show them. They have since recommended it to their friends, and no longer give me grief about my diet choice.

One of the best things about Quorn is it is not a soy product. Although some soy can be good for you, too much can be bad for you. I think I have mentioned on the list before that I was able to shrink a large fibercystic breast tumor in six months dumping all soy out of my diet to where it did not require surgery. Recently I started avoiding soy again and notice an increase in my energy level and less headaches. I have a sneaking suspicion I have become allergic to soy from so many years of eating it.

Since sage said it was her favorite , I 'll start by seeing if quorn is available at market. Bev, they probably make it look like meat to try to fool the subconsciouses of people , like me, who are trying it more out of need than desire :-) ........bobford

I saw something on the food channel that looked pretty good.
It was
some kind of veggie loaf that was made of mixed veggies,
pureed, then
dehydrated into a slice-able loaf. It was totally raw, and
because of
the nuts and whole grains in it and on it, I would have
tried it in a
flash, and probably would have liked it. The show pondered
what
Vegetarians eat on Thanksgiving, and that was one of the
dishes showcased.

I used to work in frozen foods, so I am familiar with these
products.
The one thing I would always ask is why non-meat products
are made to
look like meat if meat is so disgusting? It seems
counter intuitive
to me...If I don't eat cow dung, I sure as heck
don't want my food
looking like cow dung, ya know?
One of the things I really liked about that loaf above is
that it did
not try to mimic and therefore compete with anything else,
taste wise.
It would be new and exciting flavors, all on its own.
