Loki's sire weighed over 220 pounds. Biggest dog I have EVER seen. I know there are bigger breeds, but he topped the list I have ever come in contact with myself. Her dam was more "normal", only 140. Loki died before full growth, but we were anticipating between 170-180.
Great Intimidation factor... ;-)
She was as gentle as could be around our , and other, kids, though.
She even befriended a little stray kitten we brought home. It was right out of the cartoons..., you know, the big bulldog that let the little kitten sleep on him, and dig her claws in.
Good memories...
Ray

One of my pet peeves <g> Rotties aren't aggressive dogs. Rottie "can be"
aggressive. Certain bloodlines have become aggressive due to retards,
mainly gutless males who pump up their egos by having "bad" dogs, but in the
main, they aren't aggressive.
They are BIG. However, again, the problem isn't the dog, it is the people
who own them.
Sheesh, I think people ought to have to take a test to own an animal! Of
course, most of the folks who shouldn't have animals shouldn't have kids
either and they do both!

Just my opinion, but unless a person is very handy with large dogs, a150
lb canine ,bred to be agressive, is too much about which to worry.that
My 12 pound terrier will get so upset when the mail lady comes by,
she will hurl her body against the front door; And she went throughexpect,
obedience claases until she was kicked out for attacking a rottie pup
eight times her size..
People like Moon, Bev, etc, who have owned large dogs know what to
and know when they have a slap crazy dog. I would not own a dog that..
weighed more than 1/2 my weight; not even a sweetie like a st.bernard
My neighbor had an Austrailian Shephard (inside/ yard dog , in thecity).

I'm not quite clear how 'mean' you want the dog, but that A.S. was
protective, and was also the most intelligent dog I have ever ,
personally, seen. ....bobford

[Not from Roy]
Thanks, Ray. I have been playing around with the idea of
getting an
Anatolian from a man I know in Virginia who makes produces
really,
really nice dogs..(a sheepman, he also does BCs), but
we've been so
busy trying to get settled I put it on the back burner. I
might maybe
expand my thinking a little. I know for sure I don't
want the other
traditional guard dogs, like a Pyrenees, I'd never
really thought of a
Rottie that way. I might have to ask around my sheep
friends a little
more and see if anyone else has had experience in that
direction, too.
Cheers,
Moon
